Public Radio International

AbeTech

AbeTech tackles fast growth with integrated technology system. Founded in 1992 as Abraham Technical Services, Inc., AbeTech operated its first two years from a spare bedroom in the home of owner Steve Schmidt. Within six years, it had 70 employees with offices in four states. The company had separate databases with different software systems. Culligan Water Conditioning

Culligan’s previous accounting system, by Dataflex, was a highly customized, obsolete DOS product. The system did not interface with Windows and could not be upgraded due to its extensive customization. After implementing Microsoft Dynamics GP, Culligan has significantly reduced the time and staff needed to do many of the accounting and financial duties. They have downsized home office accounting staff and wages by 10 percent, cut expenses, increased employee and dealer satisfaction, reduced data entry errors, and significantly reduced training time and expenses. Prior to purchasing Microsoft Dynamics GP, NeoMetrics’ accounting and financial reporting was done manually. They knew that if they were to meet growth goals that they needed to automate and integrate all aspects of their business. After working with OTT, Inc., NeoMetrics has significantly reduced the amount of time it takes to prepare financials, service customers and reconcile errors. Villaume Industries, Inc.

Villaume Industries desired an integrated system that would improve their overall productivity and efficiency. Villaume had previously created a Microsoft Access application named “VIMS.” VIMS had grown to a size where poor performance became a problem. Villaume engaged Technology Resources Corporation (TRC) to assess their needs and develop or find solutions for them. TRC had built an Access data warehouse to integrate information from their disparate computer systems and wanted to make sure that Dynamics could integrate with their database. Some of the needs expressed by Villaume were: comparing credit limits to open balances and open orders, multiple salespeople per customer, finding quotes and orders by shipment to location or builder, finding payables invoices, and receiving documents and profitability reporting.
